Mr. Paul Shimmons is on his 32nd year as a music teacher. He knew he wanted to become a teacher when he was in high school because he enjoyed teaching others about the best subject ever, music. His favorite part of working at Farwell so far has been the community and how supportive they are. He also loves our students in the band program, because they work hard and take great pride in what they do. When Mr. Shimmons was in college, he was a piano major with a secondary instrument in low brass. For him, this means that he can play piano, trombone, euphonium, trumpet and french horn really well. During his time in college, he travelled the United States for 3 years with a band. This gave him the opportunity to meet a lot of really interesting people and stretch himself musically. After he was done performing in the group, he continued on for two more years as one of the music directors. Outside of work and music, Mr. Shimmons has 6 kids with his wife, Mrs. Shimmons, who works in the high school office. He enjoys kayaking, visiting national parks, trains and Diet Dr. Pepper. One thing you might not know about Mr. Shimmons is that he has a really cool collection. What do you think he collects?
