Our High School Band travelled to Standish Sterling HS to perform at the MSBOA (Michigan Schools Band and Orchestra Association) District Band Festival March 5, 2025.
Participating Bands can earn the Following Ratings: Decision I (Superior), Division II (Excellent), Division III (Good), Division IV (Fair), Division V (Poor) and are evaluated in the areas of Tone, Intonation, Rhythms, Technique, and Interpretation.
At this event, bands perform three prepared pieces including one march, one piece from MSBOA's required list and one piece of the band's choosing. Additionally, all bands get five minutes to discuss a fourth piece of music that they've never seen, and then perform it (in just one take!) for an additional rating.
The Judges gave Farwell HS Symphonic Band straight Division I Ratings across the board! This is the highest rating possible - a Superior rating! This has now made them eligible to attend State Band Festival in April.
The Band has worked hard in their rehearsals and pre-festival concert! They worked together and made many on the spot decisions in order to pull off this rating.
The Judges were some of the most respected Judges in our state and they had great feedback for our students to learn from.
