February 9, 2025
Dear Farwell Area Schools Family,
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carrie Forfinski, a Farwell Area
Schools First Grade Teacher. Carrie lost her battle with cancer on February 8, 2025. Carrie
has touched the lives of many in our community and her loss will be felt by all.
The Farwell Area Schools will have counselors available on Monday to support students and staff in the grieving process.
The family is planning on services to take place at the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral home in Farwell.
Visitation will be Thursday 2-4 and 6-8. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00.
This is an important time for you to speak to your children. Often families use a time like this to
reinforce their own personal spiritual values. It is also important to reassure your children that you are okay and that you are taking good care of yourself. Also, your children need to know that you have planned for someone to give them a place to live and care for them, in case something should ever happen to you. We have talked with our students today and encouraged them to talk with you. if they have questions and concerns. We also let them know that there are people at school who care about them and are willing to listen.
We have loaded some resources for parents to our website to support you during this difficult time.
Please feel free to call if there is any other way we can be of assistance.
Sincerely,
Steve Scoville
FAS Superintendent

Update on School Threats

Dear FAS Family,
This is a follow-up message regarding a threat made against the school. Law enforcement has concluded the investigation at the school and is in contact with the families involved. At this time, we believe we are all clear from this threat.
We want to thank everyone that brought this to our attention and the Clare County Sheriff's Office for their support on this issue.
As said earlier, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority.
Respectfully,
Steve Scoville
FAS Superintendent

The High School Robotics Team will be doing an Apparel Order for Robotics hoodies, shirts & hats. Money and order forms are due back by Valentine’s Day and should be dropped back off to any of the 4 offices. Orders will be delivered by March 6th. That's just in time to be able to wear the apparel while the Robotics Team is at their first competition in Mt. Pleasant. More details to come!

Dear FAS Family,
On the afternoon of 2.3.25 a threat was made against the school. Law enforcement investigated the threat and its credibility. The initial indications were that this was not a credible threat.
Despite the initial indications of this threat not being a credible threat against the school. We have an increased police presence on campus while we continue to investigate this issue. The puspose of this message is to eliminate the rumors that are growing around this situation.
If you know of a real and or credible threat, please call 911. We take all threats very seriously, and continue to make the safety of our students and staff our top priority!
Thank You!

Our school does a great deal for our students’ education and activities, but our needs always outpace our funding and we are hoping to get your support. Please consider participating in this fundraiser so we can provide your students with the experiences they deserve. Our ninth grade class is fundraising to fund prom and graduation. These funds will help with the cost for decorating for floats, dances, hallways, and hopefully we will be able to offer a class trip once they are seniors.
The 9th grade class is using Century Resources to help fundraise.
If you select one of the links below you will be given the option to purchase several items including cheesecakes, baked goods, cookie doughs, meats, and more. Brochure sales will yield 40% profit. Any donations we receive online we will receive 75%. If we receive checks or cash donations 100% of that money will go into our 9th grade class account to benefit our students.
If you live LOCALLY please click on this link and the student will deliver the product to you.
