Special thanks to Linda Beard for setting up the fun events for March is Reading Month.
A special thanks to Cindy Robison and Brenda Seiter for presenting the first graders with the Healthy Smile program on March 7th! All students received information about dental care, toothbrush and paste, stickers, etc.
Thanks to the V.F.W. for recently fingerprinting nearly 90 kindergarteners. This is an annual service to parents who keep a record of the fingerprints and other data about their children.
Success!! Currently twenty of the 4th grade and three 3rd grade Title students have graduated from the program. It is expected that a few more will do so by the end of May. The criteria were to have fluency and comprehension at grade level for reading and problem solving about 80% for math. Students must also maintain their grades in the regular classroom. This attests to the consistency of a program and the hard work and dedication of the teachers!
The elementary school donated 364 pounds of dog and cat food to the Clare County Animal Shelter!
This year Operation Christmas Child was opened to all students in the elementary school and what a fabulous job they did! They raised over $320 and packed 72 shoeboxes for needy children all over the world. Last year most of the boxes went to South Africa and four students received letters back thanking them for the gifts. What a great way for our students to reach out and help another child less fortunate. Thank you to all who participated and helped out!
The Eagle Delivery Post Office in the Elementary building is up and running with great success so far. Five fourth grade students pick up, cancel, sort and deliver an average of fifty pieces of mail to other classrooms and offices in the building. Students seem to be taking pride in not just receiving a letter or card, but mailing one as well.
Y-ties are available in the Elementary School Store for $4.00 or $5.00 for boot ties. They come in a variety of colors to match every pair of shoes! This is a fundraising effort to purchase needed equipment for the physical education program.
